Full Job Description

Building Bridges through Music is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Performing Arts Instructor to partner with our Site Coordinator and Group Leaders in our Integrative Arts After School Program.
This role model will serve as a visionary, operational can-doer, educational leader, and all-around indispensable member of our A-Sharp STREAM (science, technology, reading, arts, Math/Music) team.

The ideal candidate will present creative music, theatre, and movement activities, preparing students for scheduled performances which is a core component of our Education thru Music curriculum.

ABOUT BUILDING BRIDGES

Our mission is to bring together diverse neighboring communities for the purpose of increasing cultural awareness and racial harmony by using music, dance, and dramatic presentation as multicultural educational tool.

We know it’s bold. We also know that we can’t achieve it without asking staff to be role models of an innovator’s mindset— creative, visionary, courageous, collaborative, determined, and reflective. It’s not always easy. The program staff works very hard. You can expect days in which there’s a ton to get done and not a ton of time to do it. But part of what makes our culture great is that no one is too proud to complete any task that needs doing. Our staffers bring music and STREAM magic to life—for students and for themselves. This isn’t your average after-school program gig. Staff is expected to take ownership of their own performance and make our program and our kids better every day. People with a can-do attitude thrive. We manage to keep this level of performance expectation high in a relaxed environment; we take our work, but not ourselves, seriously.

Be ready to jump into action bringing magic to learning and fun. Depending on the day, that could mean donning a tutu for a skit, creating a gorgeous sign that highlights our Innovation Approach, or playing a board game with two students to build connection. You’ve got to know what it means to be a vital part of a team. You’ve got to want to grow. You’ve got to like to have fun at work. You have to smile—a lot—and you have to like to laugh. After all, we're not running a "School, After School" program but an "Afternoon Inspiration" program".

You get the point.
